Care and Washing Instructions

Machine Wash: Use a large enough washer with cool water and mild soap. Drying: Tumble dry on medium to low heat. Important: Never dry clean your quilt, as the process can damage the thread.

Payment is required before work begins

To begin, full payment is required before any work can start. Once your payment is confirmed, I’ll start by sourcing fabrics and colors that match your style. I’ll share photos of fabric options, and together, we’ll finalize the colors, fabrics, and size for your custom quilt.

A Note on Purchasing

Please be certain about your purchase before completing your order, especially if others (like a spouse) are involved in the decision. Handmade items are a labor of love, and their value reflects the time and skill required to create them. Thank you for your understanding and support of handcrafted artistry!

How to Gauge the Sizing for Your Needs

Determine Your Desired Drape: Determine the number of inches you want the quilt to extend beyond the edges of your bed. This involves not only the size of your mattress surface but also the amount of overhang (drape) you prefer. I create quilts based on exact dimensions in inches rather than standard bed sizes. It’s important to measure carefully to ensure your quilt fits as desired.

To calculate the quilt size

...add your mattress’s surface length and width to the desired drape on each side. Example: A standard queen-size mattress is 80 inches long. If you’d like a 10-inch drape on both sides, add 20 inches to the 80-inch length, resulting in 100 inches. This could correspond to the measurements of a king-size quilt. It is quite usual to order a size larger since quilts are usually made to cover the mattress rather than the whole box spring. To fully cover the box spring, using a bed skirt is usually advised.

Return Policy

As all my quilts are custom-made with care and tailored to your specifications, I do not accept returns on custom orders. Once the quilt is created, the time, materials, and craftsmanship have already been invested. Commissioned Quilt Services are not refundable.

What if I’ve never used a longarm machine before?

... No problem at all! I designed my rental program with beginners in mind. Every new renter must complete my Longarm Certification Class (a short, hands-on session) before renting. I’ll teach you the basics — loading a quilt, using the machine, stitch regulation, and safety — so you feel confident from your very first rental.

How long is the certification class? The class usually takes 90 minutes. It’s one-on-one, and you’ll leave with the knowledge and practice needed to rent independently.

Do I need to bring anything to the rental? Just your quilt top, backing, and batting (pre-basted if possible). I provide thread, needles, scissors, and access to designs/pantographs. You can also use my basting table in the studio.

What if I get stuck during my rental? I’m right there in the studio! You’ll have on-site technical support during your rental hours. Feel free to ask questions or get help at any time.

Can I rent for just a short time? I recommend a minimum of 2 hours for your first rental so you have time to get comfortable. Longer sessions are available and encouraged for bigger projects.

Is there a maximum rental time per day? Usually up to 5 hours per day, depending on availability. We can discuss what works best for your project.
