✨Edge-to-Edge (Pantograph / Border-to-Border) $0.03 per square inch - This involves a continuous, repeating pattern that flows seamlessly from one edge of the quilt to the other, covering the entire surface uniformly. It's efficient, beginner-friendly, and ideal for utility quilts or when you want consistent texture without highlighting specific piecing. Pantographs come in endless styles—from swirls and loops to florals or feathers.
✨Custom Quilting $0.05 per square inch - Tailored to the quilt top, this technique enhances individual blocks, sashing, or borders with specific designs. It often includes stitch-in-the-ditch (sewing precisely in the seam lines for subtle definition and stability), outlining (echoing shapes to make them pop), cross-hatching (grid-like lines for structure), or free-motion elements. It's more time-intensive but adds personalized depth.
✨Show-Quality Quilting $0.07 per square inch - Designed for quilts entering shows or as standout home pieces, this level features dense, detailed work like feathers (elegant, flowing motifs with spines and plumes), stippling (tight, meandering small loops for texture), background grids, or intricate free-motion designs. It requires precision and highlights the quilt's artistry.
✨Heirloom Quilting $0.10 per square inch - The most luxurious and labor-intensive option, heirloom quilting is for treasured pieces meant to last generations. It combines very dense stitching—tight stippling, fine grids, elaborate feathers, and trapunto (adding extra batting under motifs for raised, sculptural effects)—creating exceptional dimension and elegance.
✨ Note: Many professionals have a minimum fee (often $50 - $75 dollars) regardless of how small the quilt is. I do not!
