Quilt Sandwich & Basting Basics

A quilt sandwich is the layered assembly of backing fabric, batting, and quilt top before quilting, and basting is the temporary method used to hold these three layers together smoothly. Common basting methods include thread basting, spray basting, and pin basting, with pin basting using safety pins placed every 3–4 inches from the center outward.
